Wow...truly beautiful. I love the emotion and the alternation between dragon and human in this drawing. The pose is excellent, and the detail is amazing! The only problem I have is with the hand on the right...it looks a little clubby compared to the other hand. Even still, this is barely noticable, and the rest of the picture is AMAZING!

Oh, splendid! Great mix between human and dragon, especilly love wings and body and head details. Maybe the tail is just a bit... strange, it looks flat. But the hole thing is brilliant!

Neh Tempest, I has a question for you: When you started this website, what did you expect/hope would become of it? And how do you think that compares to what it is now?

The picture does suffer from a camera shake effect. A bit unfortunate because I find this drawing... inspiring. Probably due to the pose with the character peering at the distance.

@Rana Mizu: I didn't knew exactly where this site was heading but I needed a place to post some of my ad&d work and I was aiming at giving a naturalism approach to the concept of dragons. I never expected to make money out of it or get famous. I was hoping that people would like what I posted and after some times, the site became listed first when typing the keyword 'dragons" on Google but that wasn't my aim back then, it was simply inconceivable back then considering my shaky html skills.
As for the Before/Today comparison, there was so many things that have changed, perhaps a bit too slow to my taste but there was a lot of improvement in design and content (the site has perhaps 1 GB of data, whereas at first it fitted on those 1.44 meg floppy disk that no one use anymore), comparing the main page ( http://www.colba.net/~tempest/ ) with a more recent one ( http://www.dragnix.net/Artistic_Section/ ) have raised question if it was the same person behind them. The answer is yes; it's just that one page has almost never been updated (and i really need to get rid of it, the site is named Dragnix not D.R.A.G.O.N.S. anymore) while the other has seen many improvements.

@rana: i get lazy xP it takes me a while to look at the new piccies every week...

@Tempest: If you get rid of D.R.A.G.O.N.S. and the colba.net/~tempest, I won't be able to get here from google anymore, and I can never remember the whole site address after dragnix.net. Anywayz, I was mainly wondering if you expected this site to be more populous, with maybe a hundred or a thousand regular commenters, and if you would now rather have a large, shallow webcommunity or the small webcommunity we have today. I'm too computer illiterate to understand all th HTML stuff and data storage and whatnot, lolz .

Removal of colba.net/~tempest/ would occur in tandem with changing dragnix.net (so you would be able to access the artistic section from there). Moreover, I usually use redirecting scripts when a link is changed (for example, the site was originally on colba.net/~tempest1/ but every links redirected people to the right place so no one really noticed and over time Google updated its index to reflect the change).

As for the size of the community, I never expected it to be big as the site focus on a "niche market". Though the size of the community has varied greatly over time (note that there is two communities: the board and the gallery so activity would probably be greater if I merged the two databases and if people changed their habit a little). However, while the board could be a bit more active, I like the way things are now; it's easier to manage compared to a few years ago when I had to read more than 500 posts per day on the gallery, and a little less than that when the forum was on Ezboard. It's not that the site couldn't adapt but experience as shown me that as the number of people increase, so are troubles.

Yep, he has. And I remember the days when you couldn't gor for two hours without having to recheck at least two pages of last comments. Twas awful to try and keep up with it, lol. But it was fun too. We had some serious roleplaying back then, that went on for AGES!!! Some of Ravens older pics have rps of more than a thousand comments! And I mostly remember the website, but sometimes I get messed up on minor details such as the underscore, or Section vs. Subsection, and Drawing vs. Drawings. Other than that though, I can generally get here pretty quickly

you have to check the right boxes to search for what you want. And Tempests pictures have amazing anatomy and backgrounds, they're REALLY good!

yeah, i do that, but then i get all of these really random pictures that have nothing to do with what i searched!!

really nice piece. I love the pose and the expression. The detail is awesome. Aside from the camera issues, the only thing that bugs me is the tail for some reason. it doesn't look like its really there...seems flat I guess, and kinked, as if it was squished with a semi.

@Little old me: The search function will give back the info contained in the "File Information" box, as well as the info contained below the pic (ie. the title, the artist name and the description (if any)). So let's say you search for this drawing, the only keywords that would work are "Jack" (artist) and "Saitlus" (filename); searching using a description won't work. I'm working to add keywords but it's easier said than done considering that everything here is dragon-related.

Maybe you could have keywords like art styles, or tone or mood or something...idk...

how about any keyword but 'dragon'? There can be keyword hints as to the type of medium, character name, story name, traditional/digital, maybe dragon type: Aisian, European, Mexican, Anthro, Other. style is also a good idea, like abstract or realism. Also it could relate to whatever the figure is: tattoo, jewlery design, advertisement, etc

that sounds cool! or maybe a specific mood like happy, sad, angry, roar, etc, if the picture has a really well-defined mood

Well, adding keywords on drawings has its limitations. For example, if you are looking for something you need to use the exact same keyword(s) from the "Keyword List" on the search page. So if I decide to tag weird-looking dragons with the keyword "odd", using "strange" or "unusual" won't display any result.
Depending on the progression of my next drawing, I will do a first batch of tagging this week-end.
