Does it have an eye or is it just a spot?

@Opal: Yeah, I know it's hard to see. The eye has a football-ish shape, and the two points on either side of the eye. It's also somewhat larger than the other spots. My next one will be better though.

try making the pupil smaller or adding a small sheen to it. Also, try using lines and shadows to add depth and eyelids. And animal eyes are generally alittle rounder, and there's a curve in the front of the eye where the tear duct is. Oh, and it is difficult doing this with gel-pens, but for a more fur-like effect, try flicking the pen in several short, fuzzy, fine strokes
