This is my first RPG so bear with me...
Going through your attic you discover a strange ring with a dragon emblazend on the 24 karrot gold. At first you think of pawning it off but you decide otherwise, somehow drawn to the ring... You put it on your finger hoping it will bring you luck...
That was a week ago... Since then you have lost your job, found that the love of your life has cheated on you, and finally, lost millions in stock that you cannot pay back... You are sitting at your bedside making a choice... one that no one should have to make... Before you pull the trigger your hand suddenly burst into white-blue flame! You drop the gun and look at your hand. The pain came in pulses like the flame was alive... You scream a cry for help, but the world is dead to you... Another pulsation brought the ever growing flame further up your arm... You try to get up but the pain causes you to fall on your back... You close your eyes hoping for it to be over... just when you think you couldn't bear it any longer the pain ceased. You open your eyes...
You see nothing but the gray sky... you turn your head, dazed. A pale white face is staring back at you. You jump to your feet thinking he is dead... No, but close, his body is burned beyond comparison, and what isn't is clothed in fine robes. He is wearing much jewelry; obviosly of a high class. He spoke in a raspy voice.
"You've betrayed us..."
A man robed in some less noble but nevertheless nobel clothes, emerged from the underbrush.
"Thanks mate without you we couldn't have got him."
You guesture towards the nobleman.
"No not him! The dragon, you dolt."
He points towards the edge of the clearing. There you see a blue dragon, its eyes nothing but burnt sockets... still smoking... You look away discusted.
"Yes sir if you hadn't charged towards him I doubt I could have made that shot. Quite a feat if I do say so myself." How could one be so smug about death?
You ask about the older man.
"Oh him... Oh yeah come on."
He picked the man up by his robes and dragged him to the end of the clearing--the end with the dragon. He then threw the the man on top of the dragon. After a few seconds the dragon burst into flame taking the man with him. You walk away discusted. You almost lose your lunch over the man's screams. The man caught up with you and stopped you.
"Whats with that mate? Can't you enjoy our victory? ... I know what you need a stiff drink, dont worry about that. This all comes as natural before long"
He takes the lead and you reluctently follow... After a while you reach a small village there you enter a pub. The man walks up to the counter and slaps some coins on the table.
"We need a drink. Just got done with a job, you see."
"Ah one less scaly scumbag in the world I see."
He guestures towards your neckless which is covered in dragon scales.
You rip it off stunned. He laughs and fixes you each a drink.
"A little skiddish I see. I remember when I was that nieve."
The bartender hands you a drink. You take it and swig it in one gulp. You then say you need a rest and fumble around in your robes for the some coins which in turn you slap on the table. He hands you a key and gives you directions to your room. You go there and fall asleep after all you have had a trying day...
That is the intro... more of the plot will come later-- for those of you who would like to join. According to the plot you all went through a similar ordeal and came upon this pub. You may come from a number of different worlds--as long as you are human. You appear with one weapon and magic is allowed...

as you know I am new to being an GM..... A halbred is a sword right?
