I am writing a book with dragons in it. Has anyone ever heard of the term for a group of dragons? I would really appreciate hearing if you have.

Thank you,
Shaara

There have been many names for it. The most common (I have found) is just 'group'.

Aeyries (eries, ayries). Packs maybe. Caves, as in a "Cave of dragons", or a Lair, a "Lair of dragons". Also a "Kairn of dragons".

That's all I could think of.

Thank you for your input. Someone at Writing.com gave me a listing of collective nouns. It used groups from Anne McCaffrey: flight of dragons, weyr of dragons, and wing of dragons. I thank you, however, for your input.

Smiles,
Shaara

That would be 'horde'. 'Hoard' refers to the tressures said dragon might have.

Yeah, maybe if they were, like sea dragons, kind of like whales.

Or a squadron, might be another. A flight of dragons.

A 'pack' mehbeh?

-Why don't you just say maybe?

Why should I say maybe when I can say mehbeh?

-Becasue... well you... Because that's the way you're supposed to say it.

So?

-Just, nevermind.

Okay.

Heh, we've already got that one covered.

Other possible ones are the familiar names you hear: flock, pride, school, shoal, herd, etc.

No, you never said a pack. You said packs. With an 's'.

Sil is being his usual annoying self. Ignore it. Pack. Packs. Pack itself is plural for a collection of beings.

Right. A pack has more than one member in it. As many packs can make one pack, but I don't imagine it be a very comfortable party to be at.

I would call a group of dragons a... never mind. I might get charged with copyright infringement or whatever you call it.
