I actually don't think the scales make this look busy....makes it look realistic in my opinion.

I agree with E.D. and Aiolos, the scales make it look all the more real go look at some pics of lizards and I didn't think sova's pic was too busy either..my 2 cents I'm done now

im also guesing that what menmenth is trying to say is that the scales are so small that they dont look like scales but more like a paterned hide? kind of like a snake? but if the scales were larger in some areas then it would look more like scales then a hide?

Idk I have 2 pet snakes and they don't look like that. It's much more lizard like but anyway it must've taken hours to do the scales and they look insanely detailed, realistic and totally awesome

my brother used to get snakes and lizards as pets and he also had an axalotyl i agree though the scales arer brilliant

no cobras for me hehe. One's a corn snake(Niblet) and the other's a ribbon snake(Tiberius) The guy I bought Niblet from had an Indigo, it was awesome!

There are corn and rat snakes that live in multiple different places around my school. I was in our 4-5th grade garden (I was in 6th, but snuck in), and was I like, three inches away from catching a rat snake....but my stupid teacher saw me and attacked me....and then she attacked my friend for being a 'bystander'.

That stinks! Rat snakes r my fav ever since I saw a whole bunch basking on the roof of a shed while hiking...

Mnemeth, you are entitled to your opinion and if that's what you think will make the pic look better then more power to you. unfortunatly for you, though, that IS how my scales are. very small and generally the same size throughout my body

All I have at my house are Adders and Cornsnakes.Last year my cat caught a female Adder(I'm not joking) And I looked it up in the reptile book,not knowing what kind it was,and it was an Adder but everyone says "no,no it can't be an Adder".If I could have a snake,it would be...a Leopard python (I think that's what it's called) because of the pretty iridescent spots it has, or a Bao Constrictor.And because boas and pythons have the most patient and gentle nature of all the snakes

It's a black snake. Sort of like a black racer, but without the white patch on the lower jaw. Their color also looks 'richer', while the black racer's is rather dull.

Miremel: quite honestly, i have no idea. i had the same problem. couldn't color without getting those obnoxious little lines that colored pencils seem to leave. i dunno, i just... made it smoother...

That is a fasinating picture, I love it. Nice work Makla! *Tips Hat*...This is a wonderful picture, the dragon looks very realistic, and is seeming to be gazing through our souls, but the tail shouldn't turn that way, it makes the feathers look scrunched up.

Really Mnementh. The poor guy's new! I didn't go reading every comment to find out everything about everyone when I first came....it was an honest mistake.

Dragon Fern: well, my tail feathers are just really small which might be why they looks scrunched up. see, the tail feathers really have no use so they're smaller than usual. and i checked the anatomy, the tail could naturally turn that way. Mnementh: very true, Fern didn't know. i think the first time they make that mistake, they should be corrected POLITELY.

Hey I'm a girl thank you very much! Not a poor guy! Now that I examine the picture more thouroughly the tail looks perfect, even the feathers. What I meant in the first post was that the tail looked good turned like that. Anyway that's a great picture. I love how you have the scales, it makes it look more realistic (again). I'll save Makla the trouble; it's a spike on his tail. Sort of like a scorpion's tail. And how does 'fern' associate with girls?

um..no where the feathers are it's really thin then it goes thick again for the spike..

I think this is how it goes: If you remove the feathers, the base of the spike (the bone) would be attached to the tip of the tail. The feathers just surround it.
