It seems I waited too long to e-mail my painting. Oh well. I need to learn to not do things at last minute. This was a fun piece to do. One of only three photoshop pieces I've done with a decent background.

thats ligit. the sea is made well, the waves look great, and i love your detail; so thourgh, love the scales.

The scales were the easy part. They were made like that by accident actually. I was having difficulty picking a shade of blue that I liked and I started adding striped with a darkening tool and found that they made the scales look more realistic and wet somehow. I copied the tactic over the other scales and began learning how to use intense highlighting with the lighten/dodge tool. The clouds are a mixture of texture renderings and other tools and the waves were just "oh dear, please don't look bad, please don't look bad....oh, this is easier than I thought it would be..." Most of my peices are experimental somehow, this one more than usual

well its very nice. i'm assuming you use gimp?

Photoshop Elements actually. It's less than half the price of Photoshop 3 and has all the core neccesities although I sometimes miss the fancier tools, especially the ability to put my layers into folders which is handy in more complicated pieces. I've never used Gimp before. I have used some other Photoshop knock off before and just hated it and never bothered with Gimp. Just illegally downloaded Photoshop until my uncle bought me Elements for Christmas Now I wish I had it here with me. It slows down my lap top and it's downloaded on two computers at home so I can't have it on here for more than 30 days so I just wait until I get home to play with Photoshop

i know someone that has used Photoshop, but he uses gimp because its free and its open source to a point, so i don't have a big preference for Photoshop...especially illegally downloaded ones.

I started learning how to paint digitally on a lame knock off called Impression Manager or something like it and later moved on to Photoshop after I learned how to download it free. My uncle wasn't ok with it but I figured that if I wasn't really making money off of my work then there wasn't a real problem. He tried to get me to use another knock off that was just awful. I want to say it was called Paint Works or something. I refused but later found out that ther was a cheaper version. Leviathan was mostly made legally on a school computer but I would use an illegal one at home to work on it. I had a lot of data corruption problems with moving files between Mac and PC. When I found out about Elements I put it on my Christmas list. While I don't really have any problems with the illegal download of Photoshop, especially since I would have bought it eventually when I had money for it, it is much nicer having one that is legal, especially because my artwork is more my own and not borrowed in any way. That's why I haven't continued using PS3 even though it is better and there are certain things I miss. I can't say whether or not Gimp is good or bad, although I've always had the general assumption that it was inferior based on the trials with other free programs and therefore never really researched it. I figured that if it were free it had to be just as bad and since getting Elements I haven't had a reason to think much about it.

I see where you base yout opinions, but to me that seems a pale reason to excuse free programs that haven't been tried. but preferences are your own and its hard to change. I'm not sure how this tangent was created with just a mention of a photo manipulation softwear but it has furthered my experience...and for convertng files between a mac and pc theres a simple program I found that can do that...but I can't remember the name if it for the life of me.

I'm not sure why the gallery randomly turns off the ability to post comments... Still investigating.

yet I have never smelled when wet ever, besides, my fur is nice and soft.

I've never been in any water when with you...well none that wasnt full of chlorine which changes the smell. SO YOU CAN'T SAY ANYTHING...about my scent.

...you can't prove it, I've been very good about not releasing that smell when wet. haven't smelled for a while now. so you can't say that I have been.

yet I had placed a blocker up so nothing could have any effect in that area to keep outside equipment and unapproved equipment from working properly...so some cameras wouldn't be able to work, not even anything electronic...

Tried it. It didn't work. Lets just leave it that picking locks is frowned upon even if you have no intention of taking anything, from a Windows 98 computer that's worthless to anyone, to a Corvette that I don't need or a gunsmith shop that holds only AR-15s even though I have an arsenal of weapons at home
