scratch board? I've seen similar, but they were mettalic and had guidlines. @Dragonnes:You can't erase scratchboard, if I'm getting my mediums right. Its a film of black over a background. You take a needle or something similar and scratch off the black film exposing the background. To cover a mistake, you'd have to miraculously find a way to put the film back, which is what makes this drawing more unique and skill requiring than most forms.

i tried that technique before, never really was all that good at it though. though, i think i have an idea on how to erase mistakes in this medium. why not just use a very light cover of acryllic paint to go over your mistake. it makes sense to me, but i can't garuntee(sp?) it's effect on the scratchboard thingy.

*smiles* nope, no erasing, which only adds to the skills need to do this type of art. Sometimes doing something hard, even if it fizzels nerve cells, gives a feeling of incredible accomplishment.

amazingly good, and the fact that its scratchboard adds alot to the picture. Some very interesting textures in it.

Scratch board is masonite with a Kaolin clay... white sealer... then black india ink is applied and buffed smooth. You are right... very hard to fix mistakes. It takes a slow and careful hand. This is the premium scratchboard and is not on paper as some of the metallics are. It is a wonderful work surface, but at about $6. for an 8x10 it is pretty pricy. The medium makes you think backwards. You scratch highlights and it ends up looking like a photographic negative. If you want to see more you can go look me up on AW. ArtWanted.com/Bengtson I have several listed on there. Some that are recolored. I used an exacto knife to make the lines- and went through about 3 blades.
