@Midnight: To be honest, no, not particularly. It may just be that I'm full of prejudices or because I have an anti-cow bias (since I never touched or even get close to 150 feet of a cow/oxen), but I get the distinctive impression that cows are as dumb as rocks and don't radiate qualities usually found in other animals (the nobility associated with a horse, for example).

i know that cows are stupid as a fact...but i like cattle...to eat XD

I think that cows and oxen are actually pretty smart and just as beautiful as any horse, maybe not graceful, but...
And of course, nothing is "stupid". Cows aren't stupid.

I think that intelligence is a questionable subject. Things are as smart as they need be. Does it really matter what is smarter? What matters is that they have enough instincts to know how to get food and to communicate in their own ways. I mean, take a look at us humans -- It is a known fact that we are the dominant species of this planet, mostly because of our intelligence. But what does the majority of people do with that intelligence? Use their brains to figure out creative ways to turn off the Television? Consider that. Personally, I find that it does not matter how intelligent a being is, rather what that being does with their intellect. As for the subject of beauty, beauty is vain, and skin deep. Spirit is what matters.

well there was this test conducted on domesticated species and they seemed to not be very intelectual on our levels or in the way we think, but when testd on skills that they would need to survive they passed with flying colors so all species greeat and small are actually smart in their own way

@Midnight: My favorite animal... Well if it had to exist, I would say that german shepherds get a very high rating (mostly because they have such a strong persona and are quite clever when they really want something). Aside these, horses managed to make a good impression on me despite my short experience with them.
Note that I haven't had a lot of pets so the term "favorite animal" is open to interpretation.
